Job Details:
Under the direct supervision of document Imaging Manager and Supervisor, the HIMS Document Imaging Technician IV will be able to perform all of the tasks associated with medical record document capture for the electronic medical record. The main focus will be on the Quality Control of the scanned documents; 100% Quality Control (QC) will be accomplished by the QC Staff. This position is also required to perform prepping, scanning, indexing and upload as necessary to facilitate completion of the workload. The Lead monitors and oversees the daily operational workflow of the department to ensure that all processes within the department are successfully completed on a daily basis. The Lead coordinates work flow with other shifts and the Management Team and is responsible to cover the level technical functions within the HIMS Department.
Job Requirements:
Provide coordination of responsibilities to the HIMS Technicians I, II and III
Prioritizes work and/or adjusts work assignments as needed to ensure all processes are completed daily within specified time frames.
Monitors and reports quality and quantity of work performed.
Maintains and inputs productivity statistics on a daily basis.
Assists in providing ongoing training and cross-training to Precyse HIMS Staff in order to ensure efficient, effective, consistent, and accurate daily operations.
Makes suggestions for improvements to policies, procedures, processes or innovations to enhance the HIMS Department, workflow process.
Assists in the coverage of departmental functions during times of illness, vacations, position vacancies, etc.
Perform simple machine cleaning
Supports Precyse s Compliance Program by demonstrating adherence to all relevant compliance policies and procedures as evidenced by in-service attendance and daily practice; notifying management when there is a compliance concern or incident; demonstrating knowledge of HIPAA Privacy and Security Regulations as evidence by appropriate handling of patient information; promoting confidentially and using discretion when handling patient information.
Compliance with local, state, and Federal HIPAA guidelines
Assists with the orientation and training of new employees as well as providing ongoing training and cross-training to HIMS Staff in order to ensure efficient, effective, consistent, and accurate daily operations
Acts as first resource for questions regarding day to day activities
Participates in inter/intra departmental performance improvement teams as directed.
Assists customers, co-workers, care providers, and answers telephones as needed
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested
A.S. or B.S. in Health Information Management highly desired. RHIT Certification highly desirable.
Minimum three to five years previous HIMS Department experience required in a large acute care hospital setting.
Demonstrates a positive attitude and the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with the client staff, management, peers and all external entities
Requires strong organizational skills and must be able to prioritize daily work responsibilities and manage time well in order to consistently meet deadlines
Requires the ability to work under pressure and comply with high productivity standards and expectations
Fosters respect for patient privacy by maintaining confidentiality in all phases of work
Requires the ability to lead others. Must possess good team building skills
Demonstrates initiative and willingness to assist the department as needed
Requires the ability to work effectively in a team environment and demonstrate leadership skills
Requires knowledge of medical terminology
Requires the ability to be proficient with hospital HIMS computer systems
Requires maintaining an organized work space/desk and a clean work environment
Proficient computer knowledge including MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point)
Must display excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills with all levels of internal and external
